“The mask is the direct connection between our eyes and what exists underwater. Visual ability therefore takes on fundamental importance. Then you need comfort on the face for prolonged use and to limit infiltrations as much as possible to have a clear view without discomfort and this is achieved thanks to the shape and characteristics of the frameless (without frame) which allow the mask to shape itself where it rests. The generously sized double internal edge provides an excellent seal against the risk of infiltration. In freediving it is essential that the mask has a minimum volume of internal air so as not to waste precious air to be inserted during the descent to compensate for the crushing on the face. The principle is less internal volume = less air to consume. Finally, the aesthetics and shapes of a mask are appreciated as well as the materials. It wasn’t easy to put all these features together, but Enrico Sala was able to do it and for me the Condor mask represents the maximum achievable to date. It’s comfortable on my face, I have a crazy visual panorama in every direction, I consume little air on the way down to compensate for it and I never notice the slightest infiltration. From now on it is my favorite mask on any occasion.”
C4 asked me to develop a mask with a very wide field of vision and very small volume for advanced and deep freediving. The study lasted months but in the end Condor was born which not only satisfies the requests but ranks first in the field of vision of diving masks. Let’s read the article from the authoritative Apnea Passion magazine together:
Look at this infographic to learn about the main features of the mask:
Condor is a mask with a revolutionary technical concept that raises the standard of equipment design to a professional level.
Its volume/visibility ratio is currently unparalleled as in its development a set of fundamental parameters for the design of masks were considered and engineered. A careful and accurate blending of these characteristics has created a facepiece with high facial penetration and excellent lip overloop in order to achieve unique characteristics. The geometry of the dimensions and the inclination of the lenses conclude a clever blend of design and performance.
- FRAMELESS technology
- Self-adapting skirt
- Extremely low Volume/Visibility ratio
- Pre-shaped nose with variable stiffness for quick and easy compensation
- MPS (Morphological Pivoting System) inclined strap attachment for a better hold
- Tempered glass
- Soft hypoallergenic silicone skirt with anti-reflective properties
- Internal matting
- Anti-entanglement rear strap with snorkel holder slot
- Micrometric adjustment buckle
- Hydrodynamic profile
More specific technical explanations:
The profile of the external edge of the mask was modeled with highly specialized criteria and by taking the design distances to extremes, excellent penetration of the face was obtained which significantly lowered the internal volume and increased the visual angle.
Frameless technology has brought lenses closer to the eyes.
The internal edge has a very large support area and a particular section with continuous and convex curvature which seals and adapts the skirt to any face.
The shape and position of the lenses were defined by a stereographic projection considering the various human interpupillary distances.
The nasal compartment has a system of differentiated thicknesses which makes it perfectly adaptable to compensation operations.
Technical features
Mask designed and developed to achieve notable performance in any diving specialty. Its strong point is having visibility exceptionally superior to standards, combined with a very low volume with a comfortable and ergonomic self-adapting skirt. Look at the results he achieved:
